WELCOME TO MARIGOLD MONTESSORI SCHOOL
SPARK CURIOSITY, LOVE LEARNING, NOURISH THE SPIRIT
Marigold Montessori School acknowledges with gratitude that we work, play, and learn on the unceded traditional territories of the Tseshaht and Hupacasath First Nations in Port Alberni BC. We honor their enduring connection to this land and commit to listening, learning, and supporting reconciliation in meaningful ways.
Welcome to Marigold Montessori School!
We’re so excited to share that Marigold Montessori School plans to open its doors on September 2nd, 2025!
Located on a beautiful property with a warm, welcoming feel, we’ve spent the past year thoughtfully renovating the space to create a calm and inspiring environment for children to learn and grow. Our goal is to offer a nurturing, child-centered prepared environment, where every child feels supported, confident, and free to explore their full potential.
“The environment must be rich in motives which lend interest to activity and invite the child to conduct his own experiences.”
– Dr. Maria Montessori

Programs
At Marigold Montessori School, we offer a joint Pre-K and Kindergarten program, rooted in the Montessori philosophy. Montessori childcare centers typically operate on a three-year learning cycle which include the kindergarten year. This fosters a sense of community where older children can take on leadership roles and support their younger peers. This collaborative environment not only enhances learning but also nurtures social skills and independence among children. Children are not required to attend the kindergarten year, but rather it is an amazing opportunity to extend their learning in a hands on, independent way. Join us in cultivating a love for learning!
Philosophy
At Marigold Montessori School, we follow the child's interests and provide an environment that encourages exploration, independence, and respect for themselves, others and the environment. The school is based on the Montessori philosophy, promoting a love for learning and a strong sense of community.

What is the Montessori Method?
The Montessori Classroom is set up with various learning areas. Math, language, sensorial, practical life, culture, science, art, a self serve snack table and a peace corner. The materials in the classroom were specifically designed by Dr. Maria Montessori over 100 years ago by observing how children learn intrinsically. Every Montessori school around the world will have the same materials, principals and methods of teaching. The curriculum is rooted in a concrete sensorial experience to learning, while being highly interesting and age appropriate. The children are taught from the beginning, to put their materials away after each use, to learn respect for their environment, responsibility and independence.
