Is your child ready for a Montessori program? Here are some signs they may be ready to join us at Marigold Montessori:

✅ Uses the washroom independently
Your child is fully toilet trained, including wiping, flushing, and washing hands with minimal reminders. We are there to help when needed but we expect the children can be independent for the most part.

✅ No longer naps during the day
They can comfortably participate in a full-day program without needing a nap. We can be flexible if your child is transitioning to no naps.

✅ Can separate from parents or caregivers
They are able to say goodbye without prolonged distress and are beginning to feel safe in new environments.

✅ Follows simple instructions
Your child can understand and respond to basic directions and routines (e.g. “Please put your shoes on” or “Let’s tidy up”).

✅ Shows interest in independence
They’re beginning to do things on their own—like dressing, pouring, or cleaning up—with encouragement and support.

✅ Able to sit and focus for short periods
They are curious and able to engage in an activity (like a puzzle, story, or practical task) for a few minutes at a time.

✅ Emerging social skills
They are learning to interact with peers, take turns, and be part of a group, even if they prefer parallel play for now.

✅ Curiosity and willingness to explore
Your child enjoys discovering new things and is eager to engage with hands-on activities and materials.

✅ Your child is no longer putting toys in their mouth

There are many small items in a Montessori environment and we want to keep your child safe.
